Rockport walk test

A one-mile walking test often used when a hard run is not the right starting point.

The Rockport formula typically uses body weight, age, sex, walk time, and ending heart rate. This MVP highlights the protocol idea; the live calculator currently ships Cooper, resting HR, and 1.5-mile run methods.

Basic idea

  1. Warm up.
  2. Walk one mile as briskly as you can without running.
  3. Record time and heart rate at the finish.
Still a fitness test. Brisk walking can elevate heart rate. Stop for warning symptoms and consult a clinician when appropriate.
